Canadian politicians and bureaucrats keep smugly bragging about their wonderful system for foodborne disease surveillance? It’s impossible to tell from the various public statements who became sick when, and whether the system really worked or not. Marnie Webb and Linda Corso with U of G's food Safety Network have been featured in the national media over the past week discussing the recent Maple Leaf Foods Inc. meat recall and giving advice to consumers. Corso appeared on CBC's Newsworld and also answered questions online for Globe and Mail readers. The questions and answers were published in Thursday's newspaper.
